Look out Magnolia Home!Bed Bath & Beyond

This week, Bed Bath & Beyond announced the launch of their first private label line, Bee & Willow. Jean Lindsley, who is the vice president of branding said, “The decision to pursue private label branding in the decorative furnishings space was driven by our desire to offer our customer exceptional quality and style at a great price point, something our customers are not seeing elsewhere.”

Bee & Willow is just one of six in-house furnishing brands that Bed Bath & Beyond plans to release between 2019 and 2020. Lindsley explained this new direction for the 48-year-old retailer, “We’re developing private label proprietary brands to offer a meaningfully differentiated assortment to bring our customer.” With fierce competition from Target and Amazon, it easy to understand why Bed Bath & Beyond is pivoting and innovating.

Lindsley describes the line as “an eclectic mix of rustic and modern styles,” but overall, most pieces fall under the farmhouse chic aesthetic made popular by HGTV’s Chip and Joanna Gaines.

The launch features a total of 325 different SKUs with more to be added seasonally. There are items for every room in the home from dining tables and chairs, to sofas, dressers and smaller decorative accents such as vintage-inspired rugs, art, pillows, and throws. In addition to that, cleaning products including a branded Lavender & Eucalyptus Surface Cleaner and scented candles are also part of the line. Everything is reasonably priced starting at just $2.99 for a spoon rest up to $999.99 for a sofa.

This line, as well as the five other private label collections in the pipeline, provide a unique and exciting way for the retailer, which has a total of 1550 stores, to stand out amongst the competition, in particular, Amazon and Target.

Here are a few pieces of furniture and accessories from Bee & Willow that truly stand out.
