Real Estate Industry News

It’s already been a full year of real estate purchases for Amazon AMZN founder Jeff Bezos and now he has slyly added another piece of property to his list, as Variety reported. This one is an off-market listing he purchased for $10 million that abuts a small portion of the property line of his whopper of a buy from February—the $165 million home he bought from entertainment executive David Geffen (Geffen would go on to buy a $64 million home with an extensive Hollywood lineage).

This $10 million home is a three-bedroom, 4.5 bath measuring 4,600 square feet. It was built in 1930 under the design directive of noted architect Sumner Spaulding, designer of the Chartwell Estate (which Lachlan Murdoch, son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, purchased for $150 million last year). The sale never entered the multiple listing service so to see what it looks like inside you have to reach back to 2018 when it last sold for $5.45 million. Those listing photos show interiors firmly in the ‘modern farmhouse’ style, with a Craftsman style entrance door, vintage-style fixtures, a vaulted kitchen ceiling and paneled surfaces for the cabinets. The home also has six fireplaces, a media room, bricked courtyard, well-trimmed hedges and a two-car-garage.

Earlier in the year Bezos also added to his New York footprint by paying $16 million for a fourth condo in the same building where he bought three other units so he now owns the four upper floors in the same building—the three story penthouse and the several different units underneath it. He also owns two homes in Washington D.C., a 30,000-acre estate in Washington State and a sprawling ranch in Texas.
