Record-setting quarterback Tom Brady (#81 on Forbes‘ list of Highest Paid Athletes) might be on the cusp of also breaking property records in the Boston suburb of Brookline. As he settles in after signing a two-year extension to the New England Patriots, the six-time Super Bowl winner and his wife Gisele Bundchen (#99 on Forbes‘ list of Highest Paid Entertainers) have just listed their home for $39.5 million, making it the highest-priced home on the market for Brookline and according to public records it will beat all other sales prices by more than double. This wouldn’t be the first time the couple has landed in this price range. In 2017 they sold their Brentwood, Calif. home to rap artist Dr Dre for $40 million.

The current record holder for Brookline is a $14 million 13,000 square home on 2.6 acres that sold in 2007. When compared to Boston proper it is the second-highest priced property after a $45 million penthouse in the glassy Millennium Tower.

The Brady-Bundchen property was custom built for the couple in 2015 based on designs by architect Robert Landry, architect to many stars and once named ‘King Of The MegaMansion’. Landry also designed a 12,500 square foot home in Brentwood, Calif. for the couple as well as the homes of Mark Wahlberg, Wayne Gretsky, Kenny G and Rod Stewart, plus many other homes not for celebrities but still measuring tens of thousands of square feet. This particular house is a nudge under the 10,000 square feet mark, but comes with a 2,400 square foot wooden guest house with vaulted beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, a sleeping loft, walls that retract almost fully and a yoga studio (perhaps this is where Bunchen’s Pilates teacher, who recently spoke with Forbes, spends some of her time).

The stone exterior of the house and its handful of swooping curves give the main house a slight castle-like vibe from the outside. Once indoors things take on a sleek look but still with a few rustic touches to give it a slight New England flavor. The living room with fireplace has the same vaulted ceiling style as the guest house, but with only a few wooden beams to evoke the same feeling. Likewise the modern kitchen sticks with the wooden beams and farmhouse style cabinetry to stay consistent with the theme.

The five acres are adjacent to the 9th hole on the The Country Club of Brookline, but membership to the country club is not guaranteed. According to USA Today, the couple applied for membership in 2015 and were accepted two years later. As the Massachusetts history website Mass Moments details, this is the oldest country club in the country based on its founding date of 1882.

For a full set of photos head to the listing page with Barrett/Sotheby’s International Realty. The eagle-eyed among you might spot two trophies in the living room bookshelves that look suspiciously like a smaller profile of the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy.
