Opening day of The Inspired Home Show 2019

International Housewares Association

Chicago, Ill.—Due to growing concerns regarding the ongoing spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus), the International Housewares Association’s Board of Directors has cancelled The Inspired Home Show 2020, which was scheduled to take place March 14-17, 2020 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

The show, which features thousands of product categories across all home and housewares sectors, was expected to draw approximately 60,000 attendees from 130 countries. However, according to the association, 600 exhibitors had already backed out of the show prior to the cancellation announcement.

“For the last several weeks, we have been watching this situation very carefully, with our primary concern being the safety and well-being of the home + housewares industry,” said Derek Miller, IHA president. “…In the end, the global nature of our event, combined with the worldwide concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak and ongoing travel restrictions make it impossible for us to hold The Inspired Home Show next week.”

This cancellation follows the International Housewares Association’s recent announcement that the 2020 International Sourcing Expo, which focuses on Chinese-based suppliers, would also be cancelled due to travel restrictions between China and the United States.
