Gitlin Luxury Properties

When this property went on the market about a year ago no interior photos were released so we all had to use our imaginations about what it looked like inside what was then the most expensive listing in the U.S. with an asking price of $245 million. Halfway through the year the property came down in price to $195 million, but it was still keeping secrets about its interiors. All that was known about the inside at the time was that it was massively renovated in the late 1980s by Henri Samuel so that the 25,000 square foot home would be completely symmetrical. With 11 bedrooms and 18 bathrooms, a 5-bedroom guest house designed by Wallace Neff, a pool house, secret tunnels, a 12,000 bottle wine storage facility, a car gallery with enough room for 40 cars and acre upon acre of manicured gardens the home is impressive from every angle.

After all the teasing, a video tour of the inside has finally been released. Watch below to see some of the architecturally significant features, such as the wood flooring that dates to the 18th century and took the craftsmen three months to install. Or the wall panels in the 24-person dining room that also date to the 18th century and were commissioned for the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The home last belonged to the now-deceased former CEO of television company Univision Jerrold Perenchio (No. 717 on Forbes Billionaires in 2017), who bought up several different parcels to assemble the 10.39 acres that make up the estate. It still sits near the top of the listings price ladder, though the current top spot is held by a $225 million, 40,000 square foot home called Casa Encantada in Bel Air. If it were to sell for its asking price of $195 million it would surpass the current California property record holder, a $119.7 million sale of The Manor, that was set in July of this year.

The listing is represented by: Hilton & Hyland, the agents are Drew Fenton, Gary Gold and Jeff Hyland. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties agents Drew Gitlin and Susan Gitlin rep the property and for Coldwell Banker Global Luxury the agents is Jade Mills. You can find more information on the listing page.
