The curvature of 3290 17 Mile Drive. The Agency

The links of Pebble Beach were on full display this past weekend during the Pebble Beach Pro-Am (where Phil Mickelson pulled away on Monday’s final round on the way to victory and a healthy chunk of the $7.6 million purse).

Perhaps lesser known are the well-dressed residences in the surrounding community. California’s Central Coast is home to more than a few stunning properties and now the opportunity has arisen to own one of the 31 waterfront estates along Pebble Beach’s protected coastline as 3290 17 Mile Drive lists for $34.9 million.

Although there are 70 homes available in the area with a median price of $3.5 million, according to co-listing agent Cicily Sterling of The Agency, this 5-bed, 7-bath residence residence is certainly a finer example of prime Pebble Beach living: It’s on the famed drive, has classic regional architecture, a floor plan built for entertaining and even curves right into the Pacific hillside.

Pebble Beach homes have always commanded a premium, considering there is such limited inventory in the most coveted areas. This home sits on Pescadero Point on the southern tip of Pebble Beach with notable names including Clint Eastwood, Doris Day, Charles R. Schwab, George Lopez and Alan Shepard calling the surrounding area home.

Two stately columns act as the secondary welcoming approach following entrance through a grand entry gate. Much of the exterior work is draped in Carmel stone with region-appropriate landscaping spread across a lengthy façade.

Inside, the 8,412-square-foot enclave begins with a dining area that anchors a very open living/cooking center with wide, tall windows displaying the Pacific Ocean, Point Lobos State Park and the famed golf course at every glance.

The chef’s kitchen has a decidedly rustic feel with stained woods, uneven greys and brick backsplashes all coming together for a quintessential European look.

The home’s natural curvature lends itself some interesting sightlines exiting the kitchen heading towards four bedroom suites.

Those suites are capped by a thoughtfully-designed master, which with its intimate layout, marble bathroom and showroom closet feels more like its own separate residence than part of the larger home.

If the residence’s new owner is a car enthusiast, the estate’s 3-car garage would make a fine home for showpiece vehicles, especially considering that the annual Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance is walking distance from the front door.

Not to be left out, each of the suites are linked via an expansive terrace overlooking the Pacific. This area alone would call for stellar entertaining, but the main patio beyond the main living area is truly the star of the show. The space includes a zero-edge infinity pool, separate dining area and spectacular lounging space that calls for endless lazy afternoons listening to the water crash onto the cliff base below.
