The Malibu estate belonging to Mel Gibson has come back on the market with a new asking price of $14.495 million. The secluded lot, on five and a half acres of land overlooking the Pacific Ocean, contains a 6,500 square foot main house, separate guest house and pool house. In 1996 a fire damaged parts of the building which lead the then-owners to give it a major renovation with an old world European feel. They imported hand-hewn wood floor and fireplace mantles from Europe. A barn silo from a local farm serves as the place for a staircase to the upper level. Leaded glass windows in several of the rooms and masonry from large stones give it an almost-cathedral vibe in some places.

Gibson purchased the property from actor David Duchovny in 2008 $11.5 million then listed it for sale for $17.5 million in 2017. It was then reduced to $16 million last year and now has come back for sale for $14.495 million. One of the living rooms has a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams with tile floors. Numerous French doors open to the backyard to create an open, airy feel. The stone fireplace at the far end of the room matches the arches in the photo up above.

The master bedroom has its own private wing which looks out onto the backyard. Double doors open to a private terrace.

The master bathroom matches the size of any full-size room, which provides enough space for a freestanding vintage bathtub in the center of the room.
