Walkout kitchenHilton & Hyland

Jodie Foster, accomplished actor/producer/director of such films as Panic Room and last year’s Hotel Artemis, is saying goodbye to another Los Angeles property, this one hidden high up in the hills above Coldwater Canyon. The very secluded 7,500-square-foot almost-a-rambler-but-not-quite has a private garden walkway leading up to the house with a double height entrance that opens to a traditional style foyer with sun-filled rooms at every turn. See above for the kitchen with vaulted ceiling and several sets of French doors opening out to the brick patio.

Foster purchased the home from veteran producer Colin Callender for $11.75 million in 2012 and has now listed it for $15.9 million. Callender has dozens of film, television and theater credits to his name, including the likes of Dear Evan Hansen and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on stage and My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Real Women Have Curves on the big screen. Several of Foster’s previous house purchases were also of a star-filled lineage, including her previous Hollywood Hills home that she purchased from model Cheryl Tiegs in 1995 and another now-torn-down pad once owned by Dinah Shore.

The multi French door arrangement continues in the living room with another trio of them opening to the patio with views towards the mountains. The fireplace with dentil molding is one of the few obvious decor commitments, otherwise it is a neutral backdrop throughout the main living spaces.

There aren’t any pictures of the more private rooms such as bedrooms and baths, but you can start to get a sense of the layout of the house from the picture above with an elongated side of the house spacious enough to delineate the outdoor entertaining area with outdoor fireplace. Of the five bedrooms and seven baths, there’s a master bedroom with vaulted ceilings and private balcony that just might be the balcony visible in this picture of the back of the house.

Here’s a close-up of the balcony, which also shows a slight hint of the vaulted ceilings from the beams under the overhang of the roof.

For a better sense of the home, this overhead view shows how private the property is with tall hedges surrounding the 0.64 acre lot and its almost-rambler style arrangement with the lefthand side of the house

For one more view, here’s that double height entrance with traditional style bannister accompanying the stairs to the upper level.
