Great RoomArnold Grant

The home in Bellevue, Seattle, where Jeff Bezos spent hours in the garage building the very first stages of what would become Amazon has come on the market this week with an asking price of $1.488 million, as reported by The Seattle Times. The home has been considerably rebuilt since 1994 when Bezos rented the place, but the garage where internet history began is still intact. To think that was where his rise to becoming No. 1 on Forbes Billionaires list all began.

“We still have the oversized mailbox where Jeff Bezos ordered all those catalogues,” said listing agent Pat Sullivan. Sullivan has taken the mailbox down for safekeeping so it doesn’t get stolen but it will convey with the sale. “It’s worth something for sure.”

The home is priced for the local market, said Sullivan, and while they haven’t added a premium to the price for its Amazon-related history buyer interest has been strong so they have implemented a deadline for offers of this Monday, February 18 at 8 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Its moment in history even became part of the listing photos, with the arrow point to the garage saying, “The birthplace of Amazon.”
