Real Estate Industry News

As home inventory continues to fall in major metropolitan cities across the United States, the need for fresh housing supply has pushed a wave of new development projects, many of which are hitting the market now.

Check out luxury new construction homes in four distinct markets currently available for $1 million to $4 million.

Glenwood Springs, Colorado ($1.5 Million)

With an increased number of lifestyle-based real estate purchases sparked by the pandemic, mountain states like Colorado have seen an influx in second-home buyers in search of “lock-and-leave” multifamily housing. One such project, the upcoming River Grand Residences in the western Colorado mountain town of Glenwood Springs, provides the exact blend of convenience, comforts and proximity to outdoor recreation that these vacation-home buyers seek.

Located along the Roaring Fork River, this 17-unit multi-residence project will offer three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath floor plans ranging from 1,956 to 2,627 square feet. The surrounding mountain scenery will best be taken in from rooftop decks, available in all floor plans. Other highlights include private garages and units outfitted with elevator access.

MORE FOR YOU

Those interested in visiting Aspen, which resides 40 miles south, can travel in a multitude of ways—CO-82 is a straight shot, the Roaring Fork Bike trail runs from one town to the other and, for the adventurous, the Roaring Fork River passes through both cities as well. Pricing starts at $1.5 million up to $2.5 million.

Fairfax, Virginia ($2.29 Million)

On the other side of the country, a new construction home in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Fairfax, Virginia, covers 7,424 square feet across three stories. Featuring a modern farmhouse design, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home sits on nearly half an acre just outside of downtown McLean, cited regularly as one of the wealthiest cities in America.

Soaring 10-foot ceilings run throughout the main level where the dining room, living space and study are located. The well-stocked open-concept kitchen includes a walk-in pantry, morning area and a butler’s station. Along with four bedrooms, the upstairs houses a laundry room and the master suite, complete with a massive walk-in closet, grand bathroom with soaking tub and sitting room with direct access to a covered balcony.

The lowest level fits a rec room, full bath and game area, with additional space for a bedroom and media room.

Truckee, California ($3.3 Million)

During the pandemic, the small town of Truckee, California, about 10 miles north of Lake Tahoe, became a textbook example of a Zoom town, or a more rural area where remote workers headed when big city life shut down. Three years later and the influx of these buyers, mostly from the Bay Area, has pushed the luxury market in Truckee to new heights. Hence, the emergence of homes like this modern new construction build.

Sleek in every sense of the word, the 3,500-square-foot residence features clean lines, high-end finishes and an airy layout. Although completely modern in feel, an emphasis on natural materials recalls the home’s scenic surroundings. Stone is tastefully showcased across the exterior and wood elements can be seen in the slate walls, planked ceilings and hardwood floors.

Located off of Gray’s Crossing Golf Course, views of the second fairway can be taken in from the home’s abundance of windows. A private, tree-laden backyard includes a covered patio, outdoor kitchen and firepit.

Austin, Texas ($4.9 Million)

A rare, new construction product for downtown Austin, this four-bedroom, five-bath luxury home possesses all the dynamism of ultramodern residential designs being built today. Multiple levels with different layouts make for distinct spaces, each with a unique feel. Although the nearby skyline offers the most dramatic views—best seen from the rooftop deck—internally facing windows showcase the beauty of the home itself.

Massive movable walls of glass open to a courtyard where a pool with a stylish wall of waterfall features can be mistaken for a dramatic fountain. Indoor blends seamlessly into outdoor thanks to the high-level finishes of the exterior lounge, complete with a shower, faux lawn and hardwood deck.

Located at 1208 West 8th Street, the property is minutes away from famous Austin landmarks like the Texas Capital, Blanton Museum of Art and the University of Texas at Austin.
