Real Estate Industry News

Cabot, best-known for its world-class golf destinations (Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links are rated #9 and #43, respectively, by Golf Digest), has just announced two luxury real estate ventures, one on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia and one in Santa Lucia, a Caribbean hotspot.

Cabot Nova Scotia

The Cape Breton offerings are among Nova Scotia’s most compelling luxury homes, set high above the dramatic (and private) beach of Inverness on the Atlantic coast. This area has long been a big vacation draw for golfers and their families, and the new homes offer the ability for longer stays and the benefits of ownership.

The four-bedroom, 4.5-bath homes are designed in three different layouts, ranging in size from 2,790 to 3,315 square feet. All are situated with broad views of the legendary Cabot Cliffs (at the 11th fairway) and namesake golf course and, of course, the Inverness coastline beyond. Prices range from $2,085,000 to $2,675,000.

The homes are made of eastern cedar shingles with standing-seam silver metal roofs, an organic architecture inspired by pastoral setting and the gabled villages along the coast of Nova Scotia. Both rugged and contemporary, these spaces aim to integrate with the natural environment, mirroring the curvaceous hillsides and stunning cliff formations. Each home is placed with an eye toward visual access to this expanse, as well as preservation of existing natural resources.

In addition to the residences, a short course, putting course, clubhouse complex, and health and wellness center will be added to the offerings for the residential community.

The two golf courses on site are the Rod Whitman-designed, par 70 Cabot Links (6,854 yards) and the Bill Coore/Ben Crenshaw-designed, par 72 Cabot Cliffs (6,765).

In addition to world-class golf, the property offers easy access to Cabot Trail, with 185 miles of hiking and biking trails, museums that showcase Gaelic and Acadian culture, whale-watching, deep-sea fishing, and destination waterfalls (including Marianne Falls, a popular spot for cliff-jumping).

Cabot Saint Lucia

In addition to the further development of the Nova Scotia property, Cabot has also announced Cabot Saint Lucia, a new master-planned resort community on the verdant Caribbean island at Point Hardy. The development will occupy a 375-acre peninsula at the northern tip of Saint Lucia, expanding on its golf holdings with Coore and Crenshaw’s first Caribbean golf course.

The homes, some with private infinity pools, will be built from sustainably sourced local materials and will go on the market in late 2019, ranging in price from $760,000 -$10M. The golf course is slated to open in 2021.

In addition to the real estate offerings, there will be an oceanfront luxury boutique hotel, three restaurants, and a spa and a wellness center.

Saint Lucia is an Eastern Caribbean island nation situated adjacent to the breathtaking Piton Mountains on the west coast that offers volcanic sand beaches, world-class diving opportunities, and unique rainforest hikes.
