Is there any better moment than Thursday, April 11 , National Pet Day in America, to explore the growing array of luxuries with which new luxury residential buildings are pampering our furry friends? Over-the-top pup-friendly amenities are luring the kinds of residents who demand nothing but the best for their dogs. If one recent Realtor.com survey is any indication, these people are in the majority. That study revealed 75% of pet owners would take a pass on their dream homes if those dwellings didn’t appear good matches for their four-legged best friends.

The following big-city luxury buildings have gone to elaborate lengths to make sure pets are treated to services and surroundings that are not so much “top shelf” as top dog.

1000M, Chicago

One might think a location across Michigan Avenue from one of Chicago’s most sprawling parks would be sufficient to please the most discriminating canine. But the developers of 1000M, located on the southeast corner of the Windy City’s downtown Grant Park, decided dogs deserved more. The pet amenities here include a separate pet elevator, residents-only illuminated dog park and a private-entry dog spa with washing area and drying station.

Corte, Long Island City, New York

Called the dog-friendliest community in New York, Long Island City has welcomed a new low-rise luxury condominium called Corte with numerous amenities to please pampered pooches. A dog wash and grooming station, dog-loving landscaped courtyard replicating a traditional backyard and private, outdoor gardens in select second-floor units help make a dog’s life a great life.

525 W. 52nd Street, New York

Situated in Gotham’s Hell’s Kitchen, the two-tower luxury rental 525 West 52nd Street provides both a residential concierge and a pet concierge. Teaming with all-inclusive in-home pet care provider Throw Me a Bone, the building ensures human and canine residents can benefit from door-to-door dog walking, in-home puppy visits, overnight stays and dog training. Also featured is a full grooming spa, daycare facility for group play and a veterinary clinic.

Ritz-Carlton Residences Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Florida

The building staff at Ritz-Carlton Residences is chosen and schooled to deliver “anticipatory” services unrivaled in the Miami market. These services may include deciding if a pet needs a grooming treatment or dog walking services, then taking a load off residents’ shoulders by making arrangements for the provision of those services. Also offered is an elite pet spa suite that lets residents groom and bathe their pets at self-serve stations or arrange for professionals to do the job.

Brickell City Centre, Miami, Florida

A “K9 Concierge Service” is offered at Brickell City Centre’s pair of luxury residential condominium towers, Reach and Rise. K9 is at residents’ service in booking dog-walking services or grooming appointments as the towers’ pet occupants’ needs dictate.

Skyline Tower, Long Island City, New York

Returning to the Empire State’s dog-friendliest community, known for its very high number of dogs per capita, Skyline Tower in Long Island City is a luxury building that features a wide variety of dog-friendly amenities. They include a pet spa, dog grooming, dog walking and day care, as well as veterinary house calls and – last but not least – behavioral training.

Oceana Bal Harbour, Bal Harbour, Florida

Pups merit their own 5-star treatment at Oceana Bal Harbour’s designer pet grooming spa, which offers an embarrassment of riches to prized pooches. They include shampooing and deep conditioning fur treatments, haircuts, blowouts, dental cleanings and “pawdicures.” Picture-postcard-worthy dog walks are offered by the community’s “dog whisperers” to individual canines or groups of dogs. And those same soft-speaking humans can handle in-home feeding, play time, socialization and training of man’s and woman’s best friends.
