Robyn Blair Davidson, the artist behind byrobynblair, is having a very sweet 2020 as the artist in residence for famed New York City department store, Bergdorf Goodman. Her installation and pop up shop in collaboration with NAME GLO launched on January 13th and is scheduled to run through March 9th. This exhibit is the third and largest collaboration between both of the brands.

The viral candy art sensation who created her first piece in March 2018 seemingly went from new artist to thriving entrepreneur in the amount of time it takes most people to polish off a Kit Kat bar. While Davidson’s partnership with Bergdorf Goodman might be the pinnacle of her career, at least so far, it’s just one of many highlights in a string of successful ventures, collaborations, and new product launches.

One of Davidson’s most notable creations is her line of perfectly branded candy dishes. These fun, yet polished acrylic accessories sold out quickly in 2019 and are relaunching in February with new candy print options. Designs include lollipops, cherries and gumballs.

The entrepreneur’s second foray into home goods was a limited edition jewelry box collaboration with Instagram-famous jewelry designer Stephanie Gottlieb. These stylish acrylic jewelry boxes, which are available in both an iridescent and neon pink tint, feature a statement Davidson uses frequently: In Case Of Emergency Break Glass.

This led Davidson and Gottlieb to collaborate yet again, this time on a whimsical candy-themed jewelry line. This collection features hard candy earring studs and lollypop, popsicle and statement necklaces. After all, what good is a jewelry box without something special to put in it?

While Davidson’s original works start at $2600, the artist felt it was important to make her designs accessible to more people. So, she created a twelve-piece capsule collection of unframed prints for Dormify, which launched in June 2019, selling for just $39 each.

As if she wasn’t busy enough, Davidson also showed her work through several custom installations including her first-ever lifesize installation at Showfields in downtown Manhattan, followed by a photo moment she designed for Intermix at Art Basel in Miami.

But for Davidson, nothing has paralleled the honor of collaborating with Bergdorf Goodman. “This has been the most surreal moment of my career thus far. Every time I am at Bergdorf’s I cannot believe I’m walking through an installation of my artwork. It’s a pinch me moment, but also such great motivation,” she tells me. “I have so many ideas of what I want to do next, and this partnership was a moment that gave me so much energy and courage to keep building byrobynblair. This feels like the beginning.”

Andrew Mandell, who is the vice president of jewelry, decorative home and Little BG is just as enthused with the success of this installation/pop-up as Davidson is. “I have worked on over 60 exhibits at Bergdorf Goodman, and this collaboration between byrobynblair and NAME GLO is definitely one of my favorites,” he says. “The experience in the store is completely unique, and the reaction since we opened has been overwhelming! Each piece is amazing. I am having a hard time figuring out which one to buy for myself!”

The pop up features candy dishes, original wall art, and pieces from Davidson’s collaboration with NAME GLO. Seven smaller sized (14 X 14 inches) original candy art pieces are also for sale, on display at Bergdorf’s mimicking a rainbow. “I would love to see those seven pieces bought together!” Davidson tells me.
