Billionaire John Henry Cuts The Price Of His Florida Mansion By $10 Million

The current top-ranked football team in England’s Premier League has an owner who is ready to sell his lakefront Florida mansion in Boca Raton, Florida. Billionaire John Henry, owner of Liverpool F.C., the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Globe, purchased the lot in 1991 for $650,000 and had the custom-made house completed in 1995. The sprawling estate spreads over 41,000 square feet with seven bedrooms and 19 bathrooms (ten full, nine partial). Called Tashun, meaning the House Of Peace, the home blends a few Asian-inspired influences against a Mediterranean-style backdrop. The deep cherry-toned woods and perfectly balanced proportions call to mind the Eastern influence, while the columns and tiled roof bring in the Italian themes. There’s even a room designed to feel like an Italian trattoria with working wood-fired pizza oven.

Henry first listed the property for sale last fall for $25 million, but lowered the price for the first time last week. To reduce a price by nearly half the first time out for a price reduction is often the sign of a motivated seller so this is a pad that could end up being a great deal for $15 million. It also comes with a two-bedroom guest house, tennis courts and motor court. Perhaps the most important feature is this games room with an LFC-themed foosball table.

The master bedroom has an attached marbled bathroom and extensive closet space. The wallpaper’s pastel color scheme complements the sunny tones of the Boca Raton lakefront.

You can see the influence of Asian design in the entryway with the chandelier and glass doors with bamboo-style motif leaded into the glass.

The wine cellar is where we start to see the Mediterranean touch.

But the pizza parlor is where Italy really comes to life. The tile floors, sky-blue painted ceiling, alfresco wall art and full length windows that let in all the sunshine can let you make believe you really are in Italy for a couple of hours.
